Articles of the Ombudsperson

Article 1: Role & Purpose
The Ombudsperson is responsible for upholding fairness, addressing grievances, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies while maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.

Article 2: Appointment & Tenure
The Ombudsperson shall be appointed by the Governing Body of MVIET.
The tenure shall be three years, subject to renewal based on performance and institutional needs.
Article 3: Scope of Responsibilities

The Ombudsperson shall:

Address Student & Faculty Grievances – Investigate complaints related to academic, administrative, and disciplinary matters.
Ensure Policy Compliance – Oversee adherence to institutional policies and ethical standards.
Mediation & Conflict Resolution – Act as a mediator to resolve disputes fairly.
Confidentiality & Impartiality – Maintain the confidentiality of all cases and ensure unbiased decision-making.

Article 4: Grievance Redressal Mechanism
Submission of Complaint – Students, faculty, or staff may submit grievances through an official form, email, or written application.
Investigation & Hearing – The Ombudsperson shall conduct an impartial review and may summon parties involved for hearings.
Resolution & Recommendations – A final decision or recommendation shall be communicated within 30 days of complaint submission.
Appeal Process – If the complainant is unsatisfied with the decision, they may appeal to the Governing Body of MVIET.

Article 5: Authority & Limitations
The Ombudsperson has the authority to review, mediate, and suggest corrective actions but does not hold executive powers.
Cases involving legal violations shall be escalated to the legal department or appropriate authorities.

Article 6: Reporting & Transparency
The Ombudsperson shall submit an annual report to the Governing Body, highlighting resolved cases, trends, and recommendations for institutional improvement.
